USHUAIA - LAKES & VALLEYS

Escondido & Fagnano Lakes:

This tour takes us to cross the Cordillera, always accompanied by the forest. Leaving Ushuaia in this direction, we will stop to watch the old Presidio (prison), then pass by the industry sector, and as we enter the forest we will be surprised by Velo de Novia waterfall.
By longing the base of Mount Olivia it will appear the imposing Sierra Alvear, at whose feet lies a vast valley peat: Valle Carabajal, later changed its name to the Valley of the Huskies, Tierra Mayor, Las Cotorras. When the route passes the site of Rancho Hambre, the ascension will begin. A 430 mts. above sea level, in the Paso Garibaldi, we will enjoy a wonderfull view of the Lakes Escondido and Fagnano.
We will descend the shore of Lago Escondido, where it's located the lodge Petrel. Free time to


Leaving the lodge Petrel we'll again join the National Route No. 3 to start the tour of the area sawmills, where lenga form a dense forest. A few kilometers from here we take a shortcut that drives us to the biggest lake of Tierra del Fuego. The lake Fagnano is so big that some seabirds are disoriented and are carried by wind to fly, that's why it's possible to eventually see albatros and petrels.. The return is undertaken by the National Route No. 3 to Ushuaia
